Does your baby gift registry include something to store all the toys and gifts?
When we put together a baby gift registry, we think of the first few months when its just mom and the baby.
Who thinks of toy storage and all the toys that will eventually be spread out.
The first toys come attached to baby.
Toy cabinets are way in the back of our minds.
Then the toys are attached to something.
Being attached they stay in place and we still don't think about it.
We think it is cute when baby crawls to toys just out of reach.
We don't mind picking up one or two toys every now and then.
But then comes that first birthday!

If we haven't planned for it we can soon be overwhelmed.

Babies have a mind of their own about where to put all those toys.
The rest of this site is dedicated to what we do to our children from the age toddler on. However having and using a toy cabinet to get things out and put them away can and should be started with your infant. Here is a video of a 16 month old toddler who has just encountered a one at a time toy cabinet. Video shows toddler quickly understands toy cabinet.
She immediately understands how the toy cabinet operates. In fact a 10 month old toddler who has seen their parent using a toy cabinet can operate it and will just accept it as a part of their environment.
The best way to avoid toy clutter in your home is to start early. Our own parents were role models and they did they did a good job, but they didn't know everything. In fact, they might be the ones that are bringing way too many toys into their grandchildren's homes. Rather than wasting you time arguing with your toddler to pick up toys, get an automatic toy cabinet to teach them to put toys away. The one at a time toy cabinet helps them acquire this habit automatically. You spend your time with your child playing, teaching and enjoying them.
